This restaurant is famous for its decor, with anchors, rudders and sails on display and for a terrace that opens out onto the pedestrian area in Summer. Al Veliero is a family-run restaurant managed by the Risolinos, who are the ‘masters of ceremony’, often aided by their children Enzo and Andrea. Cuisine features Italian flavours shown to their full effect in simple, careful preparation. Al Veliero celebrated its tenth anniversary under the direction of the Risolino family in 2009 and there were many innovations on the menu, like the Garganelli Luna Rossa, with courgettes, crab and cherry tomatoes or the tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and prawns. There are also excellent pizzas. 2009 saw a creation dedicated to the Giro d’Italia, which is entirely pink, with salmon, prawns and cocktail sauce. VIP guests include Giacomo “Ciccio” Valenti, presenter of Candid Camera, the singer Al Bano, Austria’s coach Johannes Krankl and Miriam Leone, Miss Italia 2008.
